Abstract
Cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 is well- studied target as a chemoprevention and treatment on cancer. Interestingly, a number of cancers appear to over express the COX-2 enzyme, which may play several roles in carcino genesis. Recently there were many clinical studies have demonstrated the effect of COX-2 inhibitors in the treatment of cancer, especially, colorectal cancer. Ongoing clinical trials with COX-2 inhibitors will be applied on many other cancer, breast cancer ect. In this study, we examed the expression of Cox-2 and VEGF in 5 common breast tissues. All breast tissues showed expression Cox-2 and VEGF but invasive ductal carcinoma expressed high level significantly. High Cox-2 expression was related with many clinicopathologic factors(c-erb B2 positive, ER positive, low histological grade, p53 negative, negative lymph node metastasis) and the correlation of Cox-2 and VEGF was definiterly positive(p<0.05).
